Carl Sagan and Bruce Murray founded the Planetary Society in 1980 as a nonprofit organization to support the exploration of the solar system and to continue the search for extraterrestrial life. With 100,000 members in 100 countries, it is the largest space interest group in the world.

Memberships are $25 annually, $15 for students.
